Clinical Observation of Peritonitis Caused by Perforation of the Terminal Ileum due to Salmonellosis

Abstract
Clinical observations were made of cases of surgical patients who were operated on between January 1964 and September 1967 at the department of Surgery, Choong Eoo City Hospital under the diagnosis of generalized peritonitis due to small bowel perforation which were suspected to be caused by the infection of salmonella.
The results were as follows;
1) The ratio of frequency between male and female were appioxiulately 3.4 : 1.
The patients were most frequent between the age of 11 to 30 years(72.2%).
2) In seasonal difference, of the total cases were observed between June and November.
3) The most frequent complications were wound disruption(33.3%).
4) Surgical motality rate was 27.2%.
Those living in poor hygine had lost opportunity for early operations.
5) The widal test positive rate was 65.8%.
6) The general operative findings showed the perforation lesion and were usually single(72% ).
